Girls’ basketball snatches first win

Girls basketball beat El Camino Real today in the Redondo High School tournament, marking their first win of the season.

This was the team’s second game of the season coming after a tough overtime loss to Windward 68-67 on Nov. 22. Guard Ella Price ’20 was pleased with the way the team prepared after the loss.

“We made sure we stayed focus in practice and brought that same level and intensity to the game,” Price said. “When you suffer a tough loss it is important to bounce back, make the corrections, and stay together as a team.”

Guard Genesis Aire ’19 said she was excited to get her first win of the season.

“It feels really great getting this win especially because it helped get the momentum going,” Aire said. “We have a lot of new players this year and even though we’ve always had a strong team, I think it was really important for the freshmen to see how badly we want to succeed this season. This win helped get them excited about our goals this season.”

The Wolverines play tomorrow against Bishop Montgomery in the Redondo HS tournament and are scheduled to play in the same tournament on Thursday against an undetermined opponent.

It’s Game Day for @hwgirlshoops as they open the Redondo Tournament at 6:30 PM vs. El Camino. Let’s Goooo Wolverines! ???
