The girls’ golf team is off to a strong start with an undefeated league record of 5-0 after narrowly defeating Notre Dame High School 181-182 on Sept. 20. The squad also placed first in the All-League Mid Season Tournament at Brookside, setting the team up for success for the CIF playoffs.

Despite early success, the team captain Skylar Graham ’20 said the team is still determined to improve upon their scores and win their third straight Mission League title. To do this, they will need to keep the determination they had early in the season, and continue to set and reach their goals for the remainder of the season, Graham said.

“As we head into the second half of the season, we want to hit more greens,” Graham said. “We’re shooting for a lower team score and our end goal is CIF. To get this done we need all our players in the seventies.”

These goals have helped guide the team throughout the season and are leading them to continue their winning streak.

“The team is really great this year,” team captain Daisy Wan ’20 said. “So far we’re undefeated and we plan to finish the season that way. We are really deep this year and I’m excited to get more wins.”

Wan also said that the squad’s depth of skill is fundamental to their success. The consistently strong team allows the squad to switch their lineups each match. Having multiple lineups gives players a break, and helps to maintain the team’s success in future matches.

The squad continued their winning streak against Marymount at Rancho Park in a 202-258 match Sept. 27th. The team faced Marlborough School for Girls at home Oct. 2 but results were unavailable as of print time.

The team hopes to continue their success in the second half of the season as they wrap up their season with a game against Alemany High School on Oct. 11, and their All League Finals on Oct.15, said Graham.
