Girls’ golf places 5th in CIF

By Austin Lee

The girls’ golf team placed fifth at the CIF Regional Team Championships on Wednesday, up from 13th place last year.

The team was led by co-captains Jessica Wibawa ’13, who scored 82 and earned team medalist honors, and Amanda Aizuss ’13, who hit 88.

“I was so proud of them,” Head Coach Linda Giaciolli said. “They never quit during the round yesterday; that made the difference.”

Of the 20 schools participating in the tournament, the Wolverines barely missed placing in the top four teams, who moved on to the finals.

The team, of which all the members will be returning next year, is aiming to perform even better in the future, Giaciolli said.
“[Our] greatest success was a collective mindset. Every team member wanted to improve and stepped up toward that end,” Giaciolli said. “It’s about raising the bar.”
