Despite finishing second in league this season as a team, the girlsâ tennis team won the singles and doubles in the Mission League Tournament.
Caroline Richman â09, Nicole Hung â10 and Cassidy Horn â08 became Mission League Champions in their respective divisions.
Richman captured the singles title. Throughout the season, she was the top singles player on the team. She attributed her success to out-of-school training as well as school matches, saying they were major factors that contributed to her title.
âI think that during season I played a lot of competitive matches which helped me feel comfortable in those situations,â she said.
Horn and Hung won the doubles league title. Together for their second season, the girls improved on their finish last year.
âIt all came together for them in that tournament. They had been doing well all year, but I think that they stepped it up,â Richman said of her teammates.
The trio of champions all advanced to CIF playoffs. Richman got sick in the days leading up to her second round loss 6-0, 6-4. Hung and Horn lost in the third round of doubles playoffs 6-2, 6-0.
In team playoffs, the squad got knocked off in the second round by preseason opponent Palos Verdes again 3-15. They defeated Estancia High School 14-4 in the first round.
The Wolverinesâ two losses to Chaminade proved to be their end, as Chaminade captured the league title.
