    Girls’ Volleyball defeats Santa Barbara

In its first official match of the season, the girls’ varsity volleyball team defeated Santa Barbara three games to one at home Sept. 11. After a slow start in which the team lost its first set, 20-25, the Wolverines went on the offensive. They won their next three sets, with scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-19, respectively.

“I thought that overall we played well. I think that Santa Barbara challenged us the whole time, and fortunately we started to fight back in the middle of game one,” Head Coach Adam Black said.

Although the Wolverines won three of the four games, both teams kept the score close throughout each set. The team was able to pull away at the end thanks to the play of its seniors, including Kasey Kissick ’08 and KC Kanoff ’08, who had a team-high 17 kills.

By the end of the match, the team had a total of 43 kills, 5 aces, and 24 digs.

Over the weekend, the team competed in the Dav Moh’s Tournament in Huntington Beach. After winning its matches against El Dorado, Dos Pueblos and Vista Murrieta on Saturday, the team played Los Alamitos in the finals last night at Edison High School.
