Girls Volleyball Sweeps Alemany

By Charlton Azuoma

Fresh off of their weekend at Dave Moh’s Tournament, the girls volleyball team defeated the Bishop Alemany Warriors in straight sets to capture their first league win of the season (25-15, 25-10, 25-19).

The Wolverines were able to keep the pressure on for the entire three sets and pile on the kills. Opposite hitter Arielle Winfield ’13 and outside hitter Jo Kremer ‘14 led the team with 10 kills each on the night.

“One of the reasons we won the game was because we focused on getting a lead and keeping it. We served tough so we got Alemany out of system and went on serving runs,” outside hitter Nicole Gould ’13 said.

The Wolverine’s next challenge will be during this Saturday’s homecoming in Taper Gymnasium at 5:30pm. In a rematch of last year’s homecoming they’ll play the Lakewood Lancers in a non-league competition.

“This is going to be a really exciting game because Lakewood is a good opponent. Playing them on Homecoming will definitely allow us to gain momentum from the crowd and come out strong,” Winfield said.
