Girls’ water polo season update

By David Kolin

Staying undefeated with a 15-0 overall record, the girls’ water polo team has only given up four goals in its last three games.

Last Friday, the team played Flintridge Sacred Heart and vanquished the Tologs 23-1. This Tuesday, the Wolverines notched a 21-1 victory at home. On Thursday, the team gave up only two goals and came out ahead of Notre Dame with a 19-2 victory.

All three games were league matches, making the team’s current league record 5-0.

Goalie Kristen Lee ’12 attributes her team’s success to the experience and leadership it has in Camille Hooks ’11 and Ashley Grossman ’11.

Since the beginning of the season, the team has been aiming to win CIF. The players have practice six days a week along with additional swimming practices and weight lifting sessions. The Wolverines are currently ranked #1 in Division IV of the CIF Southern Section. To win CIF, the girls need to continue playing offensively and aggressively.

“We need to keep playing the game we know how to play,” Lee said.

The team’s biggest rival this season is Los Osos, Lee said. In the Wolverines’ last game against Los Osos, they won 9-2.

The team’s next game will be Monday at Pierce College against Louisville.
