Girls’ water polo stays perfect in league with 18-8 win

Two-meter forward Morgan Hallock scored seven times today in the girls’ water polo team’s 18-8 win over Marymount at Los Angeles Valley College. Hallock scored all seven of her goals in the first half before Head Coach Brian Flacks ’06 started to give younger players more playing time in the second half.

Seven other players added goals for the Wolverines including Bella Gonzalez ’12, Sydney Cheong ’14, Kassie Shannon ’13, Natalie Markiles ’13, Zelda Wengrod ’13, Sophie Gonzalez ’15 and Rebecca Armstrong ’14

Mary Morrissey ’13 defended the goal in place of injured netminder Kristen Lee ’12, making six saves.

Hallock said that the win was very important for the team following a one-goal loss to their biggest rival at Los Osos last weekend, giving the team another chance to keep improving over the season.

“It was definitely good to come back and keep working,” she said.

The team improved to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in league. The Wolverines play their next game at Louisville this Thursday.
