The girls’ water polo team lost to Laguna Beach High School 18-10 on Friday night. The loss was the Wolverines’ first of the 2019-2020 season and the first with Matt Kubeck as head coach. It also dropped the Wolverines to a 2-1 record on the season.

The Game

The Wolverines fell behind early and were down 4-0 in the first period. They eventually cut the lead in half, making it 4-2 with a goal from captain Namlhun Jachung ’20 with 5:30 to go in the second quarter. That was as close as it would get for the Wolverines as Laguna Beach went on a 9-1 run to take a 13-3 lead in the third quarter.

The Wolverines will be back on Tuesday at home versus Louisville High School for their next league game and will hope to remain undefeated in league play.
