Heavy rains flood Seaver, cancel classes

    By Sam Sachs

The bottom floor of the Seaver building flooded in the midst of heavy rain at the upper campus during sixth period on Fri. April, 13th. The Maintenance crew attributed the flooding to clogged drains just outside the doors to Seaver. Flooding caused carpet on the bottom floor to be replaced as well as cancelled classes both on Fri. April, 13thand Mon. April, 16th and misplaced ACT testing Sat. April, 14th.

Maintenance rushed there and began sweeping some of the water out through the doors as they waited for their water vacuums to arrive. Upon arrival the vacuums were quickly put into use to drain the hallway and a few classrooms that had been partially flooded.

“I heard a ruckus from inside my classroom, then I walked outside and [water] was everywhere” Sam Hummel ’14 said about the flood. The flood had very briefly blocked off the hallway as students were redirected to walk outside, around the scene. The hallway became full of students discovering the flood just like Benji Kagan ’14 who said “We noticed a seeping puddle of water, then a teacher opened our door and it just flooded in.”
