Liam Douglass ’18 commits to USC

Offensive lineman Liam Douglass ’18 committed to attend and play football for the University of Southern California on Monday night.

Douglass signed to the Trojans just hours after he was offered, citing USC as his dream school in an interview with FightOn247.

“Before I began my recruitment I made a list of five dream schools and USC was at the top of the list. The academics are incredible and the football program has such a strong winning tradition,” Douglass said. “I was able to spend some time with the coaching staff at camp and was blown away by how specific they were in their coaching and I felt very comfortable at USC. All of those really played into my decision and once I got the offer I knew that was where I wanted to be so it didn’t make sense to wait.”

Despite having completed only one season of high school football, Douglass received offers from University of Arizona, University of Colorado, Colorado State University, University of Kansas, University of Hawaii, Utah State University, University of California at Berkeley and Washington State University.

Head Coach Scot Ruggles was not surprised that Douglass received the offers as quickly as he did, citing “toughness, athleticism, desire, and size,” as key components of Douglass’ game. He was very happy with how Douglass’ recruiting process concluded.

“[The] best part of my job is playing a small role in helping kids chase and achieve their dreams,” Ruggles said.
