    By Eli Haims

Middle distance runner Amy Weissenbach ’12 will advance to the semi-finals of an international track championship after running a time of 2:08.09 in the 800-meter qualifier today. Weissenbach and teammate Cami Chapus ’12 are currently in Lille, France, competing in the International Associations of Athletics Federations’ World Youth Championships. Weissenbach came in third place in her heat and had the seventh fastest time overall. She is slated to run in the second race of tomorrow’s semi-finals and, if she qualifies, will run in the finals on Sunday. Weissenbach currently holds the all-time high school record of 2:02.04 for the outdoor 800, which she set at the CIF state championships in June.

Cami Chapus ’12, who qualified for the finals in the 1500-meters yesterday, will race Saturday morning.
