Obama, McCain win mock primary

Presidential candidates Illinois Senator Barack Obama and Arizona Senator John McCain won the respective Democratic and Republican mock primaries at school this Tuesday.

81.5 percent of students who turned out for the election voted in the Democratic primary. Of those 75.3 percent voted for Obama, 22.7 percent voted for New York Senator Hillary Clinton and 2 percent voted for former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel.

18.5 percent voted in the Republican primary. 46.9 percent voted for McCain, 22.2 percent voted for both former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Texas Congressman Ron Paul, 4.9 percent voted for former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and 3.7 percent voted for political activist Alan Keyes.

Overall turnout was 50 percent.
