The Parking, Safety and Athletic Improvement Project will hold its first public hearing with the City of Los Angeles on Aug. 8, President Rick Commons said in an email sent to parents and alumni on July 13.

The project includes a parking structure, bridge to cross Coldwater Canyon and practice field for school athletics.

“This is the first step in a process that should conclude by the end of the year,” Commons said in an email about the hearing. “We can’t wait to share your enthusiasm with the planning commissioners and elected officials for the City of Los Angeles.”

In March, Commons announced that there would be a total of four to five public hearings to discuss the project. City planning staff will listen to testimony from both Harvard-Westlake administrators as well as from those who oppose the project, including the organization Save Coldwater Canyon, in the first meeting.

“The PSA Improvement Project is not just about the school and its students and families,” Commons said in the email. “We believe this project will benefit the surrounding community.”

Commons attached a link to RSVP to the meeting for those interested in attending.
