Prefect Council provides massage therapists during midterms

LA Massage Factory provided students with massages Tuesday and Thursday in Chalmers East. The Upper School administration said that they recruited massage therapists to combat the stress and anxiety that students were facing during their mid-year assessments.

The Founder and CEO of LA Massage Factory, Serge Nicolas, reported that the company has provided massages to students at schools around Los Angeles, in addition to employees at large corporations.

“In terms of finals, [massages] reduce a lot of stress… your body produces more oxytocin, melatonin and serotonin,” Nicolas said.

While many students said that the massages helped them deal with their stress, one person, who wished to remain anonymous, said that they did not help students as much as was originally intended.

“The student body seemed to greatly appreciate the massages, and though they may not have directly reduced stress in the community, I appreciate the administration’s efforts.”
