Sophomores win Judge’s Award at robotics competition

Stephanie Cho ’20 and Jenna Kronenberg ’20 won the Judge’s Award at Howl in the Hills VEX Robotics Competition in Chino Hills on Jan. 13.

The judges were impressed by the robot’s design and the pair’s commitment to work as a two-person, all-girl team, Stephanie Cho ’20 said.

“It’s our first year in robotics and we spent a lot of time building and programming our first robot. Jenna and I are very proud that we won the award,” Cho said.

Cho expressed her excitement for upcoming competitions and the rest of the Robotics season.

“After seeing what worked and what did not, we are very eager to modify our robot and make it better,” Cho said. “There are also a lot of new designs and concepts that we are excited to learn. The senior help and teach us a lot.”

The two were the only team to win an award in Chino Hills from the HW Robotics team.

Students will be competing in the next competition at Streets of Bakersfield Robotics Extravaganza #1 on Jan. 20.
