Spanish teachers attend AP seminar

Teachers attended a seminar last Friday titled “Vertical Teaming and Scaffolding of Instruction” given by Laura Zanke, the College Board’s co-chair of AP Spanish Language and Culture development. Due to the visitor, Spanish classes were cancelled for the day.

The seminar’s purpose was to teach instructors activities that better students’ communication in real-world situations, a skill evaluated on the exam.

“If you go to Spain, no one’s going to ask you to conjugate a verb,” World Languages department head Margot Riemer said, “They’re going to try to talk to you and hope you can respond.”
