Students, faculty and staff celebrated the winter season with themed dress days and holiday activities during WinterFest, which was organized by Prefect Council.

On Monday, students and faculty wore ugly Christmas sweaters and other festive clothing to school. Tuesday was called “Twinter Tuesday” where students got to wear the same clothing as a friend. Wednesday was supposed to be “Onesie Wednesday” or pajama day and Thursday’s dress up theme was supposed to be tropical attire, but school was cancelled due to fires. The theme for Friday was ski clothing.

Before WinterFest began, the lounge was decorated with a Christmas tree, a Hanukkah display and lights.

During break on Monday, prefect council hosted festivities in the lounge, including a bake sale, hot chocolate and holiday performances by Alec Davila ’20, Caitlin Chung ’20 and Michael Gavin ’18. Davila said that he enjoyed singing during break.

“It was very fun and exciting,” Davila said. “I got to sing a Christmas song and I think it really brought everybody together and put everybody into the holiday spirit. I like how we get to celebrate the holidays before break because its something else to think about before midterms.”

Students and faculty also had to chance to give back to the community by volunteering to make sack lunches for the homeless.

“The nice thing about making the sack lunches was that we could spread some holiday cheer while having fun listening to some great performances and bringing the community together for a good cause,” sophomore prefect Jaya Nayar ’20 said.

The sack lunches will be distributed to the homeless in Los Angeles near Christmas.
