Students competed in the annual Halloween costume contest Oct. 31 during activities period.

Head of Upper School Laura Ross, President Rick Commons and department heads judged the costume contest in the Chalmers Lounge.

Faculty also danced in a flash mob.

Vanessa Payne ’19, who participated in the costume contest, said she thought all the costumes on campus were creative and clever.

Payne saw the majority of students admiring each others’ costumes on the quad before walking to the costume contest, she said.

Payne expressed her enthusiasm for the Halloween festivities on campus.

“I for sure thought it was fun,” Payne said. “Last year, the couples on campus went all out, but I didn’t really feel that Halloween spirit. This year I definitely did, though. I loved that teachers dressed up. This year, I really felt the spirit of Halloween. It was genuinely amusing seeing everyone.”

The school moved the original activities break on Wednesday, Nov. 1, to Tuesday, Oct. 31, replacing a First and Third Assembly with Halloween festivities, Assistant Head of Upper School Michelle Bracken said in an email.
