The girls’ volleyball team beat St. Lucy’s 3-1 in their homecoming game Oct. 24. This win keeps the Wolverines atop the Mission League, just narrowly ahead of rivals Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy and Marymount.

“It’s always fun to play at homecoming, but this was a good matchup for us to get reps against a quality team in an environment that we might see in the playoffs,” Volleyball Program Head Adam Black said.

After winning the first two games by a comfortable margin, the Wolverines dropped a tight third game 25-23. However, they were able to come back and win the fourth set 25-22.

“We didn’t play our best game now, but it was nice to come out and battle for a win and show some resilience even though it wasn’t as clean as we would have liked,” Black said.

The Wolverines take on Flintridge Sacred Heart on the road in their next game Oct. 27, a must-win matchup for the Wolverines if they want to maintain their position at the top of the Mission League going into the playoffs.

“I think our energy and intensity in practice right now is great, and we’re putting all of that towards our last league game against FSHA,” team captain Josie Treadwell ’16 said.
