Water Polo eliminated in CIF semi-finals

Nothing was said as they lifted themselves from the pool. The team was despondent yet proud.

Even though they were irritated and disappointed with the loss, they left the pool with their heads held high.

The varsity boys’ water polo team was defeated by top seeded Northwood in the CIF semifinals 6-3.

The Wolverines got goals from Jeff Schwimer ’07, Billy Evashwick ’08 and Max Elliot ’09. Along with a ten-save and two-steal effort from goalie Brian Pingree ’07, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Northwood, who has one of the top players in the country in Caleb Hamilton, who is being recruited by several Division I programs.

Prior to CIF the team went undefeated in league, which  extended their undefeated streak in league to  10 consecutive seasons.

In what many people speculated would be an off-year for water polo, the teamd finished the regular season with a record of 22-4.

The Wolverines  earned a CIF berth and beat  Woodbridge 17-8 in their first-round match.
They followed suit, with another victory over Esperanza 7-5 in the CIF semi-finals, leading the way to their loss to Northwood.
