Varsity Wrestling lost 54-6 against Alemany on Jan. 17, marking their second loss of the season.

Riley Ruiz ’20 said that despite the loss, he was proud of the team’s effort.

“Every wrestled hard and well in their matches. Three of our freshmen Lucas Li [’21], Viswa Douglas [’21] and Kanoa Young [’21] all pulled out big wins,” Ruiz said.

Calvin Kaleel ’18 said that he intends to continue working hard after the loss.

“Though Alemany is a tough opponent, our team came out and fought,” Kaleel said. “I think we just need to keep working hard and keep looking forward to the next few matches and Mission League Finals.”

The team currently holds an overall league record of 0-2. Their next match will be against Bishop Amat on Jan. 22.
