Alumnus named to New York Yankees’ 40-man roster

Pitcher Nik Turley ’08 was named to the Major League Baseball team New York Yankees’ 40-man roster on Tuesday.

Turley was drafted 50th overall by the Yankees in 2008. He pitched for the Yankees’ Double A squad, the Trenton Thunder, in 2012 and was named minor league pitcher of the year in the Yankees’ organization. Turley had a combined ERA of 3.06 in his five seasons in the minor leagues.

In his senior year at Harvard-Westlake, Turley had a 1.88 ERA and helped the team reach an 14-13 overall record.
