The softball team has a record of 15-6 over the season so far, winning against notable teams such as Sierra Canyon (7-6) and Venice (14-3). The team has shown improvement since their 2023-2024 season which had a record of 13-9, moving them into the CIF Southern Section Mission League. They lost their most recent game 5-1 against Chaminade on May 1.
Outfielder Kale’a Tindal ’26 said the team did not perform as well as they generally do during their recent game.
“[The game] was rough,” Tindal said. “Our pitching was pretty good, but our hitting wasn’t as on point as it usually is. Our defense did great. They kept the ball well.”
Second baseman Emma Tseng ’26said she believes the team has created trust and friendship between each other thro, ughout the season.
“I think the team has done a great job with camaraderie,” Tseng said. “Our team has always been tight-knit, and this year is no exception. I love seeing my teammates around campus. Because we practice in Encino, the drives to practice are a great opportunity to get to know each other and to talk about our days.”
Tindal said she thinks the team has done a good job of bouncing back from their setbacks by coming together to improve on their skills.
“We do well with coming back from our mistakes,”Tindal said. “We usually have coaches’ meetings where we work on specific aspects like defense, infielding or outfield.”
Tindal said the team could work on supporting each other more frequently and being understanding.
“We could work on picking each other up more often,” Tindal said. “Mistakes are bound to happen, and when they do we need to make sure that we have each other’s backs and build off of each other.”
Tseng said she is looking forward to Mission League playoffs,as well as the rest of the CIF division games.
“I am excited for the playoffs,” Tseng said. “We were moved up to Mission League this year and faced a tough schedule, but despite the ups and downs, we have met this challenge with a lot of grit, determination and energy. I am looking forward to seeing our hard work this season pay off and to play some new teams in our larger CIF division.”
Outfielder Julie Kassin ’25said she wants to end the season off on a strong note and believes the team can do so with strong teamwork and effort.
“I really hope we have a powerful end to this season,” Kassin said. “I think we can do it. We just need to lock in, stick together and work as hard as possible.”
Tseng said she is looking forward to celebrating her teammates on senior day.
We have senior day , and I am excited to celebrate Julie Kassin and Savvy Mahoney ,” Tseng said. “I have been on the team since their sophomore year, and they have made the team what it is by being such welcoming, empathetic and talented people. It is bittersweet because I am sad to see them go, but it should be a good game and a great send-off.”
