Corrin selected as SoCal Prep Legend

Courtney Corrin ‘16 was selected to be the SoCal Prep Legend by the Southern California News Group, in association with KABC and the Southern California Toyota Dealers, on May 30. She got the news during a photoshoot and interview at the StubHub Center in Carson. A SoCal Prep Legend is a high school athlete that has been deemed one of the best in Southern California, said Corrin.

“Saying [I am SoCal Prep Legend] out loud brings tears, hunger, and excitement to my eyes, because all of the endless training sessions, good or bad, and the late night car rides was all worth it,” Corrin said. “It’s one thing for your family, school, or friends to recognize your talents in a particular field, but for Southern California to recognize these talents goes far beyond my wildest dreams.”

Corrin’s list of accomplishment includes the title of two-time CIF State long jump champion and being named the Los Angeles Daily News Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year three times. Corrin also earned the distinction of All CIF Division 1 selection in the 2014 and the 2015 seasons.

Corrin also credits her father for helping her to achieve this honor.

“I can’t even begin to put into words the devotion and selflessness my father has presented throughout my entire life,” Corrin said. “Not everyone can say that, and for me to have such a person in my life, I truly thank God for that.”
