Students participate in community service walks

A Harvard-Westlake team participated in the Lung Force Walk in Studio City on Sunday in order to raise funds for the American Lung Association. The organization aims to spread awareness of lung cancer and offer support to those that have been both directly and indirectly affected by the disease.

At the free Luminaria Festival put on by the Studio City Neighborhood Council on Dec. 6, student actors, singers and dancers will put on shows for local families. In spirit of the festival, there will be approximately 4,000 white lights in paper luminaria bags scattered around the historic Campo de Cahuenga Spanish-style ranch.

The Studio City Winter Family Festival will take place Dec. 11 at Beeman Park, where Harvard-Westlake singers will perform acapella songs for community members.

Students and faculty ran five kilometers at the 6th Annual Run/Walk/Expo on Oct. 23 in honor of former Notre Dame student Conor Lynch, who was hit and killed by a distracted driver while running during cross-country practice in 2010.  The Conor Lynch Foundation aims to promote increased caution of drivers and safety of pedestrians.
