Girls’ water polo crushed Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 18-3 during their senior night game today.

The Wolverines immediately took control of the game in the first quarter. The girls gained a solid lead with goals from utility Meera Burghardt ’20, attacker Pria Pant ’18 and attacker Alex Button ’21.

They were up 7-0 in the first quarter and 11-2 by the half.

In the second half, the girls continued to command the pool. Multiple goals from utility Adeline Jackson ’21, center Taylor Lacour ’19 and Sonya Ribner ’19 lead the team, with only one 8-meter shot making it past goalie Emily Hillard ’19.

The senior day celebrations, in honor of the last home game, brought parents and friends with flowers and banners to the game. However, this year, the festivities were centered around Pant, the team’s only senior.

Pant was thankful to have been a part of the team and though the game was a success.

“We got to practice a lot of things we have wanted to work on especially near the end of the game,” Pant said.

She said the team was also looking forward to upcoming games.

“We are really looking forward to this weekend,” Pant said. “We have a tournament at Bonita.”

After the Bonita tournament, the girls only have one more league game at Notre Dame, who they defeated 9-7 last year.
