Four wrestlers advance to Mission League Finals

Four Varsity Wrestling players were named Mission League Finalists on Jan. 27.

Riley Ruiz ’20 was named Mission League Champion at 126, Kanoa Young ’21 got second place at 152, John Cahill ’20 got third place at 138 and Justin Butler ’19 got third place at 160. Young said he was very happy about the team’s growth throughout the season.

“The wrestling season went very well and our team accomplished a lot,” Young said. “I’m excited to go with my team to my first CIF and hopefully qualify for masters.”

Cahill said he was fortunate to have spent this season with such a supportive team.

“I feel pretty good going into CIF since the whole team has pushed each other hard this whole season making all of us a lot better,” Cahill said. It is Cahill’s second year qualifying for CIF.

Ruiz, Young, Cahill and Butler will be heading off to CIF SS Finals on Feb. 16.
