Alum to become Interim Director of Communications

Ari Engelberg ’89 (Jacob ’21) will replace Jill Shaw as Interim Director of Communications, where he will focus on strategically planning the school’s communications and marketing approach as well as fulfilling the job’s daily responsibilities, President Rick Commons said in an email to the school community.

Engelberg will temporarily hold the position as the school administration seeks a permanent replacement.

Before attaining this position, Engelberg worked as an entrepreneur and as Executive Director of Bright Star Schools, a collection of five charter secondary schools within Los Angeles. Additionally, he is a former Harvard-Westlake history teacher and assistant basketball coach.

“As we build toward a new era in communications at HW, we are very fortunate to be able to rely on Ari’s expertise in both business and education, not to mention his knowledge and love of our school as an alumnus, faculty member, and new parent,” Commons said in the email.
