Dr. Christopher Clement joins history department

Christopher Clement joined the upper school history department for the upcoming year to teach both U.S. History and A.P. Human Geography and International Relations.

Before coming to the school, Clement served as the chair of the Social Studies Department at Pomona Catholic High School and taught a range of courses such as world history, A.P. U.S. history and A.P. American government. He also moderated the Model United Nations program in Pomona Catholic and chaired its A.P. capstone.

Clement earned his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in political science from Florida International University and his Ph.D in political science from Howard University. Additionally, he worked as an assistant professor of political science at both Pomona College and Virginia Tech University for 5 years.

Clement said he looks forward to continuing to get to know the school community.

“I was looking for a school that promotes excellence, that raised the expectations of not just academic but personal qualities,” Clement said. “I also wanted to come to a school that had a national reputation and hopefully contribute to that.”
