Young cross country teams reach CIF prelims, finals

The boys’ varsity cross country change managed to reach the CIF finals this year, but their eighth place finish was not enough to get them all the way to state finals.
Individually, Chris Okano ’08 made it to the finals and finished in 45th place with a time of 16:50 at the state meet Nov. 25 in Fresno.

After losing a large part of the team last year as a result of graduating seniors, the girls’ cross country team fought through injuries to reach the CIF preliminary round, where they finished sixth. Roughly half the runners had injury problems at various points in the year.

In league finals, the team finished in a tie for third with Notre Dame but missed an automatic qualification on a tiebreaker.
