Lee steps down as Student Government adviser

After four years with Student Council and one with the new student government, Suzanne Lee is stepping down from her position as adviser effective the end of this year, she said in a surprise e-mail to members of student government and the administration Feb. 25. Lee will serve as co-adviser with history teacher Laurence Klein until June, after which she will remain as a math teacher.

After this year’s merger of Student Council and the Honor Board, things are different, Lee said.

“They are still working on structure and responsibilities,” Lee said. “Someone else can start off fresh with new ideas. I had a blast doing the job, but I think it’s about time that I let someone new come in.”

Lee instituted Student Council’s all-grade meetings, took charge of planning prom and started organizing clubs when she started with Student Council five years ago.

“Student Council was initially not as structured,” she said. “I incorporated weekly meetings for all grades so that they could communicate within the leaders.”
