Visual arts teacher receives loyalty award

Visual arts teacher Kevin O’Malley was awarded the Marion Hays award, along with $5,000, last Wednesday during the annual Faculty-Staff meeting. The award is given to a faculty member who shows loyal and dedicated service to the school.

The award is named after Marion Hays, who was Harvard School’s assistant headmaster and served as a bus driver, math teacher, scheduler and coach. The recipient of the award is chosen by President Thomas C. Hudnut and Head of School Dr. Jeanne Huybrechts. It was established by Hays’ sons, Thomas ’53 and Louis ’62, after Hays died. O’Malley is the fourth faculty member to receive this award. The first award was given to Vice President John Amato in October 2004.
