Darfur activist visits weekly Darfur Awareness Club meeting

The Darfur Awareness and Activism Training Club hosted Ari Averbach, an employee of Jewish World Watch, at one of their weekly meetings on Monday, March 3.

The club is an activist group that is part of the Jewish World Watch community. Averbach sat in on the meeting as a “point person” to check up on the group and to answer questions of the participants.

At this meeting, the Darfur club discussed possible ideas for their Advocacy project that will start during the final trimester of school.  Averbach helped out by offering some suggestions.

“Right now, we are still in the brainstorming process of our advocacy project.  The meeting resulted in further ideas for our project, but it is still being decided upon,” said the club leader, Shelby Layne ’09 via email.

“This trimester, we will work on a project to continue promoting and advocating for the help of and aid for Darfur and ways we can work to diminish the causes of the genocide there,” Layne said.
