The foil, épée, and saber boysâ varsity A fencing teams all won the titles of their respective leagues.
The foil team, consisting of three fencers, won its tournament March 6 at Victor Valley High School. The épée and saber teams won their league titles April 17 at Chaminade High School.
The boysâ foil varsity team B, placed in second, and girlsâ foil varsity team A placed third in its division.
Several other Harvard-Westlake teams competed in saber and épée.
“We came together as a group and had really good team spirit in an individualistic sport,” varsity a foil team captain David Lehoang â11 said.
Varsity A Team saber fencer Spencer Koo â10 saw few to no flaws in this yearâs team.
“We won pretty easily,” Koo said.
Lehoang cautioned against letting the success affect the fencersâ work ethic.
“We canât get complacent,” Lehoang said.
