Girls’ water polo suffers first loss of season

By David Kolin

In its first loss of the season, the girls’ water polo team fell in the second round of the Irvine Tournament. The team beat Arroyo Grande 13-7 in the first round but lost to Vista 12-8 in the second round.

Camille Hooks ’11 was kicked out of the Vista game after receiving three ejections (penalties forcing a player to sit out 30 seconds of game action). Because of the Wolverines’ lack of depth, they struggled after Hooks left.

Bella Gonzalez ’12 was the leading scorer for the Wolverines with four goals in the game against Vista. Ashley Grossman ’11 was unable to strike offensively because she was frequently triple teamed.

The team’s next league match will be against Flintridge Sacred Heart on Tuesday.
