In the first fencing tournament held at Harvard-Westlake in nine years, the men’s varsity foil A-team finished second to Chaminade. The Wolverines lost the best-of-nine series of bouts 5-4, with the final bout decided by one touch in overtime.
Rishi Bagrodia ’12 was fencing Chaminade’s Bobby King, and the match was tied 3-3 at the end of time. King got priority, meaning he would be the victor if no one scored in the one-minute overtime. But he parried Bagrodia’s attack only seven seconds into the bout, and the referee ruled that Chaminade was victorious.
The Wolverines then defeated the Victor Valley team 8-1 to clinch second place in the tournament.
