Boys’ tennis overcomes quarterfinal opponent, advances to semifinals

In a close match against the number three seeded Corona del Mar on Tuesday, boys’ tennis advanced to its third consecutive CIF semifinal. The squad defeated Corona del Mar 10-8

After the first round, the score was tied 3-3 with the Wolverines having won all three singles sets and dropping all three doubles sets. The score began to shift in the Wolverines’ favor in the second round.

In the final round, the team lost much of its lead, losing two singles and two doubles sets to Corona del Mar. However, Jackson Frons ’12 won his third set of the day and the doubles pair of Matthew Wagner ’11 and Harrison Kalt ’13 defeated their opponents as well, securing a victory.

The team will be playing in the CIF semifinals this Tuesday against Palos Verdes at Palos Verdes High School.
