Boys’ golf coach Wood resigns after 10 years

    By Charlton Azuoma

Scott Wood ’88 has resigned after ten years as head coach of the boys’ golf team, the athletic department announced Thursday. He will be moving on to work full-time at Merrill Lynch, a financial management and advisory company.

Wood guided the Wolverines to back-to-back CIF Northern Division championships in 2004 and 2005. He also has served as an assistant football and basketball coach in his tenure at the school.

“The last ten years coaching football, basketball and golf have truly been the best time of my life,” Wood said in a statement posted on the athletic department website. “This school has more than prepared me for the challenges that lie ahead.”

Golfer and Texas A&M commit, Charlie Benell ‘12 is just one of the great players he’s coached during his tenure as a Wolverine.

“He will be really missed by all of us. He was a great coach and he really helped all of us,” Benell said.
