Santa Barbara struck first against the boys’ baseball team, and the lopsided run count didn’t stop there. The Wolverines’ season came to a close last night after a 7-2 loss to the Dons in the CIF quarterfinals.
Santa Barbara jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the end of two, hitting two home runs off of pitcher Jack Flaherty ’14. The bombs were the team’s only hits in the first two innings.
The Wolverines scored in the third inning to pull within one, but the Dons responded with two more runs of their own in the fourth.
The game ended 7-2 in the Dons’ favor. This loss knocks the Wolverines out of CIF playoff play after their first Mission League title year. Their overall record for the year was 23-8.
