The head coach who led the lacrosse team to its first Mission League title in program history will not be returning for the upcoming 2012 season. After only a year, head coach Matt Lewis will move back to his home in Las Vegas full time rather than living part time in Los Angeles to coach the team.
“My experience with the team was amazing,” Lewis said. “I had the opportunity to coach a great group of young men and was pleased to be involved with very supportive parents.”
Though Lewis does believe in a “bright future” for the lacrosse program, he acknowledged the loss of ten seniors last year.
“We did graduate a number of seniors who were critical to our success and it may take some time for the younger guys to step up,” Lewis said.
“I’m bummed that he’s leaving,” player Matt Edelstein ’13 said. “He was a great coach and ran the practices more efficiently than anyone else.”
