Girls’ Volleyball drops 3rd Consecutive Match

By Charlton Azuoma

The Wolverines lost in straight sets to the defending CIF SS Divison 1A champion Marymount Sailors in Taper Gymnasium Sept. 12 and saw their overall record fall to 0-3.

The Sailors took the first and second games with scoring runs late in the game to shut out the Wolverines 21-25 in both games.

“It is a few plays here and there. We need to execute and win some more scramble points,” Head Coach Adam Black said.

The third and final set was a lot closer than the earlier two. With the support of the Fanatics behind them, the Wolverines were able to get to 22-19 lead in the third set before ultimately losing 24-26.

Lucy Tilton ’12, Arielle Winfield ’13, and Molly Harrower ’13 comined for 18 kills to lead the Wolverines. Starting libero Katie Price ’12 tallied 10 digs in this contest.

“Every match we are getting better,” Price said.

They travel to Sherman Oaks to face the Notre Dame Knights next week in their Mission League opener after their stay in Las Vegas this weekend for the Fall Durango Classic.
