Boys’ water polo beats higher ranked Servite 6-3

    By Michael Aronson

Guided by senior leaders Alec Zwaneveld ’12, Brian Graziano ’12 and Bradley Schine ’12, the boys’ water polo team defeated Servite High School 12-6 Tuesday to improve to 7-3.

Zwaneveld, Graziano and Schine each had hat tricks in the game against the Friars. The team got out to an early lead and did not look back to finish with a victory.

The Wolverines went into the game ranked ninth in the CIF Division I Southern Section’s weekly rankings, just one spot behind Servite. Attacker Alan Vucetic ’13 said the win against the higher ranked team was a confidence booster for the squad.

“We really stepped up and put away an important game for our CIF ranking,” Vucetic said. “Hopefully we can use the momentum going into our tournament this weekend.”

The team enters its first league game of the season against Crespi Wednesday and its second tournament of the season this weekend in Irvine.
