Football to kickoff season against Loyola

By Robbie Loeb

Entering a new era under recently promoted Head Coach Scot Ruggles, the Harvard-Westlake football team will kick off next season against Loyola for the first time in 80 years, Los Angeles Times reported today. The non-league matchup between the two teams is set for Aug. 24 at Los Angeles Valley College.

The Wolverines missed the playoffs last season after finishing 5-5 in the Mission League. The Cubs went 8-3 in the Pac-5, losing in the first round of playoffs 31-21 to Huntington Beach. Loyola finished the season ranked 21st in Southern California by the LA Times.

The last time the two schools met in football was in 1932, when Loyola shut out the then-Harvard Saracens 27-0.
