Quarterback Chad Kanoff ’13 received his first Division I offer from Vanderbilt University, he confirmed today, making him the first Harvard-Westlake quarterback in recent history to get an offer from a top football university.
“I’m honored,” Kanoff said. “This is a great motivation and it will make me work a lot harder.”
Kanoff had denied rumors for the past few weeks about the Vanderbilt offer, but today he said that he has actually been in contact with Vanderbilt for several weeks.
Kanoff has not made any commitment to play at Vanderbilt yet, as more offers can be expected to come for the 6-foot-4 junior.
“I first realized [becoming a Division I player] was possible when they offered me,” he said. “It is really a dream come true.”
The Commodores went 2-6 and finished tied for eighth place in the SEC this past season.
Kanoff threw for 2,646 yards and 28 touchdowns this season.
