The Wolverines beat Whitney of Cerritos by 34 tonight in the first round of the boys’ basketball CIF Div. 4AA playoffs.

The boys’ basketball team crushed Whitney 74-40 on the road. The team will face J. Serra in round two on Friday. Small forward Josh Hearlihy ’12 led the team with 12 points.

The Wolverines limited Whitney to just six points in the first quarter and scored 19 themselves. Heading into halftime, the team held a commanding 22-point lead, 42-20.

The third period saw the Wolverines extend their lead to 35, entering the final period up 62-27. Whitney was able to keep the Wolverines from further extending their commanding lead in third, scoring 13 points to the Wolverine bench’s 12.
