Boys’ Basketball Program Head David Rebibo informed the boys’ basketball team that Cassius Stanley ’19 will not play in the team’s game at Alemany Wednesday night.

Multiple sources confirmed that Rebibo told the team during practice Tuesday afternoon that Stanley asked for a day off and would not be available for the showdown with the Warriors, who have already clinched the Mission League title, having started league play 10-0. Stanley apologized to the team in the pre-practice huddle.

The Wolverines are 7-3 in league play, and would lock up second place with a win in either of their final two regular season contests (tonight at Alemany, Friday vs Chaminade).

This isn’t the first time the Wolverines have had to face Alemany short-handed; in their previous meeting on Jan. 20, both Stanley and Ali Iken ’17 were sidelined due to injuries. The Warriors won that game, 61-45.

MaxPreps’ computer rankings have Alemany entering the game ranked 6th in California and 19th in the nation. The Wolverines will look to snap the Warriors’ 14-game win streak, sans-Stanley.

Stanley and Rebibo could not be reached for comment.
