Jensen McRae ’15 will produce “Love Notes,” an annual singing showcase that will benefit a charity in honor of her late friend, Justin Carr ’14, on Feb. 22.

Carr ’14 died of cardiomyopathy in 2013 during his junior year.

“[Carr] was a very respected student and a very good friend of mine, which is why the cause is so close to me,” McRae said.

The Justin Carr Wants World Peace Foundation advocates for Carr’s dream of world peace through grants from causes such as Love Notes.

McRae started her charity, Love Notes, because she wanted to combine her love of music and community service to be able to help as many different causes as possible.

This year’s production will include performances from McRae, Adam Yaron ’16 and Daniel Dávila ’14, among others.

“I am humbled to be able to collaborate with such talented and passionate musicians for a cause that means so much to me,” Yaron said in an email. “Justin Carr and his loving parents are an inspiration, and I hope that our music will reflect this sentiment.”

McRae will be singing one original song as well as multiple covers with other performers during the showcase.

There will also be a few “featured players,” including McRae’s younger brother, Holden McRae ’20, and Yaron’s two younger brothers.

“I just try to find people who are really talented, and I just kind of throw them on the stage,” McRae said of her fellow performers. “I think that is when you get the best product, when you get really talented people and you just let them do whatever.”
