In the first competitive matchup played in the Copses Family Aquatics Center, the boys’ water polo team defeated Ventura 16-4 on Thursday, Sept. 6.
Ventura drew first blood in the opening quarter with an early goal, but the Wolverines rebounded and scored six unanswered points to take a commanding lead going into the second half.
Johnny Hooper ’15 led the team with four goals and Raphael Raede ’15 chipped in with two more. Freshman phenom Ben Hallock ’16 also scored in the matchup.
Goalies Rye Newman ’13 and Anthony Ridgley ’15 split time in the cage in the victory.
The team will play Dana Hills Friday, Sept. 7 at home.
