The girls’ varsity basketball team beat Oaks Christian 63-58 in its season opener.
Girls’ basketball team co-captain Natalie Florescu ’13 led the way in scoring, notching 17 points in the home opener with Lindsay Tse ’16 chipping in nine of her own in her first game in Taper Gym.
“This team far exceeded my expectations to open the season and made me so proud,” Florescu said. She attributed the squad’s success to playing smart, limiting turnovers, and playing tough despite being undersized.
The Los Angeles Daily News ranked Oaks Christian’s team third in their season preview and had the Wolverines ranked seventh.
The Wolverines play in the Redondo Tournament next, they open on Dec. 3 and tournament play goes until Dec. 8.
